PLANNING COMMITTEE – TERMS OF REFERENCE

REPORTING TO: Birdham Parish Council

PURPOSE OF COMMITTEE:

To consider and make recommendations as authorised on the following:

All planning applications referred to Birdham Parish Council by the Planning Authority.

  • All other planning matters concerning Birdham Parish, including liaison with potential developers or any agency proposing change to the built environment.
  • All matters concerning the highways and other means of access in and adjacent to Birdham Parish, or likely to have any impact on Birdham Parish.
  • Birdham Parish environmental matters.

DELEGATED AUTHORITY:

To incur expenditure on behalf of the Council (where already provided within the agreed revenue budget and excluding any items incurring capital expenditure) on Training for Council Members & staff on matters connected with the Council’s role and functions as a Planning Consultee.

  • To authorise the Parish Clerk to take the necessary action to implement approved decisions of the Committee.

MEETINGS: Schedule meetings as necessary to meet the deadlines set by the Planning Authority.

MEMBERSHIP: To be drawn from members of the Council as required.

QUORUM: 3

CHAIRMAN: The Chairman of the Committee shall be decided at the first meeting of the Committee by a simple majority.

EXTERNAL ATTENDEES: As required.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: Meetings will be open to the public.

WORKING PARTIES: May be set up for specific time-limited tasks as required
